Here is your little instruction booklet for Ireland...

Here’s a list of things to consider bringing:

A rain-proof jacket preferably with a hood. Gloves. A scarf for your neck. Extra socks. NO umbrella (it’ll blow away). Dark colored slacks/jeans.

Tops for layering. Sweater/sweatshirt. Closed in shoes. Long underwear (if you tend to get cold all the time). Chapstick and a moisturizer (windy weather). Sunglasses for the glare

Nothing fancy, it’s Ireland~no one cares.

One suitcase and one carry-on. Medications. Film and batteries for your camera. Hairdryer that has dual voltage (available for  under $15.00) at Walmart.

Spending money~~you can withdraw money at the airport with your  ATM card.  Call your bank or credit union and see if your card is accepted in Ireland.  There is also a place you can change traveler’s cheques and cash at the airport.  We will be near banks on most of the days we are in Ireland, so if you don’t want to cash lots at one time, there will be no problem.  Visa and Mastercard are the credit cards of choice, American Express is not as widely accepted.

Phone calls to the States~~if you plan on calling back to the states frequently, you can call your carrier and get a special rate for a month of cheaper calls.  If you only want to call once or twice, your ATT, Sprint or MCI card can be used in Irish phone boxes.   I will  have a cell phone for emergencies.   My cell from the states~011-353-87-9634037  Ireland is five hours AHEAD of the east coast.

Food~~  If there is some type of food you MUST have, bring it with you. Fruit is available as is just about everything else you might want.

Electrical Appliances~~ I will have adapters.  Hair dryers and chargers for video cameras can be used with them.  In past years I have seen some curling irons melt and others do very well.  If you bring a curling iron, don’t bring an expensive one!

Extra Bag~~for those with lots of shopping to do, consider bringing a collapsible bag inside your luggage.

Weather~~be prepared for sunshine and rain and hail and fog and rain, and sunshine.  Temperatures between 45 and 50.

Passport~~is the only government document you will need.  No visa is required.

Special Meals~~ call the airlines anytime prior to 48 hours of your departure to request special meals.  Also confirm your seat assignments at this time.
